Taroona Primary School is nestled behind its feeder High School, scenically located beside the Derwent River, 9km south of Hobart in the Southern District and  a member of the Channel Cluster.  It was officially opened on its present site on 18 June 1960 and  is a well-supported neighbourhood school and most students come from within the suburb of Taroona.
